Which is a problem with the color models RGB vs. CMYK. The range of colours using RGB is quite bigger than using CMYK. Or the other way round: not every RGB-Color can be printed CMYK. You'll (the software/converter) have to "scale it down" to CMYK. The result is mostly type of "reduced brillance". So drawing for CMYK/Printing purposes, start
Using a CMYK conversion like the one given in the accepted answer (at the time of this writing) is not accurate for most practical purposes.. CMYK is based on how four kinds of ink form colors on paper; however, color mixture of inks is considerably complex, more so than the mixture of "lights" used to form colors in the RGB color model.
In fact, when you convert RGB to CMYK, the color is impossible to be consistent. We suggest that you'd better convert the RGB image into CMYK in Adobe Photoshop. when you finish the conversion, you can see that the image is darker than before. Then you can use PS to adjust the color to make it achieve the effect you want as much as possible.
Never use Image mode to convert. Use Edit > Convert to Profile and convert to the specific RGB color profile you want to use. Similarly, there is no generic CMYK. So if your intention is to end up in an RGB profile do not start your document in a CMYK profile. You should only be working in CMYK if you know exactly which CMYK profile you will be
CMYK to/fro RGB is difficult - you're converting between additive and subtractive colour. If you want an exact match, you need to look into per-device colour space profiles. What looks OK in one colour space usually doesn't when physically converted to another (i.e. proper CMYK output - not a naive preview on a monitor).
4) If there is need to define colors for any (new) objects, you can continue to specify colors in RGB, if you wish. The visual appearance on screen will be that of the document target, but if you export to RGB, the actual RGB definition of the color will be used. For CMYK exports, an automatically converted CMYK value will be used.
RGB to CMYK Converter is a color code generator that allows you to convert RGB color values to CMYK codes. Just enter the RGB code and you're done! You can use this tool to quickly transform RGB colors to CMYK values for your HTML pages, blogs, landing pages, or any digital graphics projects.
What to do: Ask for the CMYK profile. If they do not say a word, use a generic one, but USE ONE. Fogra 39 is commonly used for Digital print. If the printing company has no clue or just says "whatever" yes, just use it. Confirm the resolution. For a digital banner, 150 PPI is fine. You do not "need" to send a Tif file.
